The Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston, Inc. (ATMoB) is an amateur astronomy club devoted to telescope making, observing, and studying the heavens. The ATMoB was founded in 1934 with the cooperation of Dr. Harlow Shapley at Harvard College Observatory. In 1973, the Bond Astronomical Society, another long-standing club, merged with the ATMoB making the club one of the oldest and largest general interest astronomy clubs in the country.
The Amateur Telescope Makers of Boston, Inc. is an IRS designated 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Donations are gladly accepted and are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
NOTICE
The ATMoB Clubhouse is closed to all members for the foreseeable future in light of the COVID-19 event. All scheduled events including Friday night seminars, work parties, metal and woodworking workshop use, and mirror making are suspended. The clubhouse observing grounds and observatories are also closed by request of MIT. The clubhouse will be opened again when MIT and local health authorities deem the situation is safe to do so.
