I just heard recently that the City of Boston in Massachusetts is
planning a major overhaul of Boylston Street that includes new
lighting.
According to the City's web site
(http://www.cityofboston.gov/bra/PressDisplay.asp?pressID=192) the
plans include "the installation of 85 new historic double acorn street
lights."
Based on what is going up in other parts of the city, these will
include internal baffles. They'll be replacing existing drop lens cobra
heads. Too bad we can't do better than this.
