Re: (ATMoB:Discuss) Shuttle launch seen off Marblehead!

Hi-
Sorry, I wasn't clear on my report.  The shuttle was a great deal higher when my son first spotted it, maybe as high as 20 deg.
It does take awhile to come up the coast after the launch, of course that's relative a relative statement since it's velocity is pretty damn high!  I believe it was ~8 minutes after the actual launch that we first spotted it in the SE.

Clear Skies!

Congratulations on seeing the launch from Marblehead, Framingham, and the

I was in Cambridge at a fairly high spot. I watched the countdown on the
Shuttle Website. At about t - 4 minutes, the transmission went blank. I
waited in vain for it to resume. After 4 minutes I went to a third floor
room with a good view to the south and east. I looked mainly south and
didn't see anything. Apparently I should have been looking more to the
east. I could see Orion rising but if the shuttle's altitude was only 8
degrees as reported from Marblehead, I could have missed it in distant
trees.

Is there another place where the countdown is broadcast, either voice
or video?  WBZ apparently doesn't do it anymore.

Disappointed from Cambridge.
