Great. That's one additional data point. I assume you've got a WWV or
equivalent time source available.
In addition to supplying IOTA with the raw data, let's plan on comparing
data also just to see how it looks. If enough people were interested, why
not consider shipping all data and observer reports from ATMoB in one
package???
So far I have not yet heard from any other local club, and I did send notes
to several...I would think we could get 10 or so observers from Maine thru
Mass.

Peter,
I was planning to try to videotape the event from the clubhouse if the
weather cooperates.
Visual observers recording from that location would also be useful to
have.
If anyone can record the event from Myles Standish, it would be another
good data point.
If interested in participating, information is available on how and
where to send your report, so that the numbers all get crunched with
other observers across the country.

Hi all,
There is what looks like a neat occultation of a 5.9 mag star in Taurus
by the asteroid Nephele next Sat. evening. The asteroid is about 95
miles wide and the occultation path covers all of seacoast NH and much
of MA.
I have accumulated several pages of maps and occultation info at:
http://home.attbi dot com/~pbealo/nephale.PDF . Yes, I know I didn't do a
real neat job getting it on the website...but I hurried in order to get
the info out!
Note that the coverage map (page 1) shows the EXPECTED path...the real
one could be as much as 1.5 pathwidths N or S of this one since its
standard deviation is 0.45 pathwidths...so most of New England may see
it!
I'll be out trying to time the event to WWV....anyone else interested in
doing it from other sites?? If enough people joined in we might be able
to help define the shape of the asteroid as well as help reduce its
positional error????
Please pass this note along to people in the North Shore group as well
as the NH astro society and NNE Astro Society.
Let me know if you plan on timing the event or have any questions about
how to do it.
