(ATMoB:Discuss) Town of Harvard Star Party - Friday, June 21st - 9-11 PM

Hi Everyone,
The re-scheduled Star Party for the Town of Harvard will be held on this Friday, the day of the Solstice, Friday, June 21. Start time is 9 PM. The Moon will be waxing gibbous with 87% of the its visible disk illuminated. The phase of Venus should be apparent. Jupiter and Mars will be very low in the NW. Please help out if you can, and thank you. I will be there by 8 PM.

If you need any more information, my telephone number at work is 978-461-1450 x0.

Directions and Cautions

Please observe all stop signs (i.e. make a FULL Stop at every STOP sign) and observe Speed Limit signs. The police in Harvard and Boxborough LOVE to give out tickets. They are always hiding out somewhere. Beware.
***********************
Take either Rte. 2 or Rte. 495 to the Harvard exits onto Rte. 111.
***********************
Via Rte 2 - Get off at Exit 38A for Harvard - Rte. 111. Take 111 South towards the center of Harvard. Keep going until you just see the very small Hillside Garage/CITGO gas station on your left. (If you reach the STOP sign in the center of town, you've gone too far. If you enter Ayer, you went the wrong way on Rte. 111.) Turn right almost opposite the Hillside Garage/CITGO gas station onto Depot. Rd. Follow Depot Rd., going past the Transfer Station (on the left). Go just a little more, and the soccer field will be on the left. Park in the parking lot, but not on the grass. The field and parking lot are below road level. If you pass the baseball field you've gone too far.
*************************
Via Rte. 495 - Get off at Exit 28 for Harvard Rte. 111. Head towards Harvard (NOT in the direction of Gas or Hotel). Continue on Rte. 111 North to the STOP sign at the center of town. STOP. Continue going straight ahead just a little more on Rte. 111. You will very soon see the very small Hillside Garage/CITGO gas station on your right. Turn left just opposite the CITGO onto Depot Rd. Follow Depot Rd, going past the Transfer Station (on the left). Go just a little more, and the soccer field will be on the left. Park in the parking lot, but not on the grass. The field and parking lot are below road level. If you pass the baseball field you've gone too far.

This area usually has nice dark skies and an almost 180-degree view. Please come and join us, and stay as long as you like to do your own observing. Thanks, and clear skies.
