Just so you've heard, bat and bird houses require maintenance also. Perhaps
the Audubon Society is willing to do if but I doubt it. Why would they want
to undertake this unless there is an unusual habitat there?
The houses would need to be cleaned on an annual basis. The most common
birds to eat mosquitoes are martins or swallows and it could take a few years
to get them to occupy nest boxes. Sparrows like their apartments better and
have to be continuously frightened away until the swallows occupy it. I
remember annual cleanings with our martin apartment houses and how hard it
was to get a decent martin/swallow population.
I've never done the bat house routine but I bet its similar.
