Citronella. You can also burn DEET candles. Citronella candles do work, but
not very well. With the normal candles you get at the store, if you stand close to the candle
you get a 50% reduction in bites. Hardly enough to notice a difference.
DEET has been studied very thoroughly (although it is tough to look at long term affects)
and is pretty safe. People have eaten the stuff, gotten it sprayed in their eyes and all kinds of
things and problems are extremely rare and are usually with very heavy innapropriate usage.
They've fed the stuff to rats and mice and concluded it is pretty safe stuff.
